Chicken & Waffles, Shrimp and Grits, bourbon & bourbon, and bourbon. Wow. Their selection of bourbon is probably second to none in Louisville. AND their bourbon pricing is reasonable.
Oh and they do brunch, they do brunch hard; and their Bloody Mary's are quite good...
I have had many memorable moments at Silver Dollar with family and friends and look forward to many more. -

A coworker chose this place for a group meal. I did not realize until later I had it bookmarked for some time. Sometimes things work out.
It is in an old firehouse. There is some outdoor seating and quite a bit of indoor seating.
We came for dinner but the whisky list was what excited me. It is extensive. It has the norms but goes way beyond that. I was happy to see some options that I have not been able to find in California.
A few appetizers were ordered for the table. I only tried the pork rinds. They were very good. The seasoning and texture were on point. A drop or two of hot sauce kicked it up a notch or two as well.
For my meal I ordered the Pan Seared Pork Chops. They were excellent. You could easily eat them without any sauce. The corn topping was tasty too. These are some of the best chops I have had in quite a while. I added a side of hash browns. They give you plenty of food, but they sounded good. I was not disappointed. They were crisp and the flavor was very good.
Overall I really liked this place. I would go here for dinner or even just drinks. The service was timely, but our server had an odd attitude. They did not seem to be happy about being there. Other than that, everything was very good. -

Silver Dollar is awesome spot to bring guests from out of town with its unique menu and items. I have lived here four years and never got the chicken and waffles and want to try them. I had hoped they would be delicious and they were just okay. The fried chicken is better at other louisville spots and the waffle was just blah. I do enjoy the drinks and fried pickles at silver dollar and the atmosphere. My friend got the short rib and it was lacking flavor.
Side note: I have come for brunch and the biscuits and gravy was fantastic! -

An old firehouse turned bar, this place was hopping! We grabbed two seats at the bar and were handed food, cocktail and special menus right away. I went with the Gold Rush, at my date's recommendation. It was so good. Reminded me of a whiskey sour. He had the red hot summer, a mezcal cocktail. It was tasty.
Bartenders were super attentive. One started to sing! We had a great time just relaxing and chatting. We did not have an appetite for food but there was a lot on the menu that looked good.
Bathrooms are clean. Lots of table seating. Fun place to grab a drink, for sure. -

Summer Friday done right, sitting at the bar at The Silver Dollar drinking bourbon bevvies doesn't get much better!
The bartender was super helpful in making suggestions that I would like. I started with the Kentucky Gambler, then had the Hearts on Fire and ended with a couple of shots of Eagle Rare (that I paired with a Derby Bar from Please & Thank You, and wow! that shit was goooood!).
I don't typically sit around tossing back bourbon cocktails but this was my first time in Louisville and I was "immersing" myself you can say ;)
We had eaten lunch before coming here so I didn't try anything off of their food menu. Their bourbon selection is massive and a local friend is who suggested we come and accompanied us here.
I can definitely see this place being somewhere I'd frequent if I lived locally.
Great staff, friendly atmosphere, being born and raised in Los Angeles it's nice to find places like this where you know aren't home but you feel like you are.
